Hope for Misty: Covering Her Road to Recovery

Hello Family and Friends,

Many of you may not be aware that Misty Field, is in need of a liver transplant. She is 53 years old, a wife, a mother of 2, and a grandmother of 3. For the past 14 years, Misty has been living with a disease called Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC). PBC is NOT caused from alcohol abuse. It is a progressive, autoimmune liver disease where the body's immune system attacks the bile ducts in the liver. This attack leads to inflammation, scarring, and damage to the liver, leading to liver failure and cirrhosis.

As a result, she is now on the liver transplant list at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO to receive a liver from a deceased organ donor. She is currently unable to walk unassisted, or perform daily activities by herself due to her disease causing osteoporosis and fragile bones which has led to both of her feet being fractured within the past 6 months. She is severely jaundice, fatigued, and deals with endless other side effects. Throughout all of this, she still never gives up hope, and is still there for her family. She is a true inspiration of strength, faith, and courage.
