Save Max – My Best Friend and Lifeline
Hi, my name is Marlene, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for my dog, Max. He’s a 9-year-old Chihuahua mix, and I’ve had him since he was just 5 weeks old. He’s not just a pet — he’s my best friend, my emotional support, and truly like my child.
A few weeks ago, I noticed Max wasn’t acting like himself. I took him to the vet, and bloodwork showed a serious infection in his bloodstream. He was put on antibiotics, and I prayed they would work. For a brief moment, there was hope — but his symptoms came back even worse.
Now, Max stopped eating or drinking on his own. He can hardly move as his back legs are giving out. He cries in pain, and watching him suffer like this is absolutely heartbreaking. Although he is very ill he fights hard to survive you can still see his smile and tries to comfort me with kisses like if I’m the one that is sick.
The vet says it is urgent to get him immediate care and diagnostic as his X-rays showed fluid in the retroperitoneal (abdominal) area, which could be caused by a number of serious conditions: internal bleeding, a ruptured urinary tract, inflammation, infection, or even cancer. Without these tests, we’re left guessing and max may not make it through the weekend.
I’ve already spent everything I have trying to get him care, and I’m running out of options. I don’t want to give up on Max, but I can’t afford these next steps alone. That’s why I’m asking for your help — to give Max a fighting chance at life, or at the very least, to get the answers we need and keep him comfortable and pain free.
If you can donate, no matter how small, it would mean the world to us. And even if you can’t give, please consider sharing Max’s story.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.
With love,
Marlene & Max
