Hope for Mason: Join His Healing Journey

Hello, my name is Jennifer. I am the paternal grandmother to Baby Mason Alexander Carone. This beautiful baby boy was born on March 30th, 2025. Shortly after we welcomed him into this world, he was experiencing difficulty breathing with low oxygen levels. He has been transported to Boston Children's Hospital and has been diagnosed with Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension (PPHN). This is a very serious but treatable condition that affects newborns shortly after birth. Basically, Mason's circulation system is not adapting as it should be; his blood isn't flowing properly through his lungs to pick up oxygen.
Mason was placed on CPAP, placed on Nitric Oxide Therapy, has been and still is sedated with IV therapy to help reduce stress on the lung and heart, and he was also intubated. This was bringing his numbers up for a few hours, and then it was no longer beneficial to him.
They now have Mason on ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation). This is a heart and lung machine that oxygenates the blood outside the body, allowing the lungs to rest and heal. It is considered the last resort to support Mason's lungs and heart.
Mason's mom, April, and dad, Jaryd, are young first-time parents. They are trying their hardest to be the best they can be for their baby boy. At this time, it is hour to hour, day by day. We do not have any idea how long he will be on ECMO. He is receiving around-the-clock care at the best Children's Hospital in the nation. There are always two medical professionals by Mason's side.
We are asking for any assistance possible at this time to help with the cost of stays, food, and rent, as Jaryd is unable to return to work anytime soon. Baby Mason is blessed with three sets of loving grandparents. We are all doing our best to be present for the three of them to support them both emotionally and financially. At this time, we are looking for any help to assist with the financial aspect, and more importantly, prayers and positive vibes for Baby Mason. We appreciate anything, at the very least.
Please continue to send prayers of healing for this precious baby boy. Mason is strong; he is fighting the good fight.
I will keep this updated as much as possible.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any prayers or assistance in advance.
