Hello, we are the Hall family — Dave, Kate, our eldest daughter Junia, and our brave Maren, who is 13 years old. After nine adventurous years as educators abroad, we've settled in Houston, excited to call it our permanent home. Today, we reach out with heavy but hopeful hearts, asking for your support during a challenging time.

Last Thursday evening, while watching her friends compete in soccer game, Maren experienced a frightening accident. Climbing a tree with her friends, as spirited as she always is, a branch unexpectedly broke, and she fell, severely injuring her back. The fall resulted in a broken L3 vertebra, requiring immediate surgery to install rods and screws across five vertebrae.

The road to recovery has begun, but it’s paved with significant medical expenses. The cost of Maren's care has been exorbitant, including her surgery, hospital stay, and the ongoing rehabilitation she will need to ensure a full recovery. Despite these challenges, we remain grateful and hopeful, as the doctors are optimistic about her prognosis.

Despite the shock and fear we've faced since that day, we are immensely grateful that the situation wasn’t worse. Maren's strength and resilience inspire us every day, and we are thankful for every moment we get to spend with her. As we navigate this journey, our spirits are lifted by the love and support of friends, family, and kind strangers.
