Mama Beth’s Fight for Hope Against Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer

Hi, my name is Jonathan Chad, and together with my wife, Arnie Vlz, we’re starting this fundraiser for our incredible mother, Elizabeth Vlz — lovingly known as Mama Beth.

‍ She is 64 years old, and on April 4, 2025, our lives were forever changed. What we thought would be a routine hospital visit turned into an emergency surgery... and then the heartbreaking news:
Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer.

Mama Beth made it through that first surgery with strength and grace .. but her journey is far from over. Chemotherapy is urgently needed before she can complete the full treatment. This fundraiser is our way of fighting for her life and giving her the best possible chance to recover.

Because the cancer is already advanced, she must undergo chemotherapy before her next surgery. We are bracing for what’s ahead — emotionally, physically, and financially.

These past few weeks have been especially hard.
Arnie (my wife, her daughter) has been by her side every step of the way. She made the tough decision to work from home full-time to care for Mama Beth, which meant sacrificing income during a time we need financial stability the most.

For full transparency, here’s a breakdown of the funds we’re raising: https://hopeformamabeth.org/funds-to-raise/

Upcoming Medical Bills:
• 6 sessions of chemotherapy – $13,500
• Medications not covered by PhilHealth – $2,105
• Post-chemo surgery (hysterectomy + BSO) – $7,800
• Ongoing imaging, labs, and consultations

Your donation will help cover:
✔ Hospital balances
✔ Chemotherapy sessions
✔ CT scans & imaging
✔ Oncologist consultations
✔ Emergency room visits
✔ Doctor co-pays
✔ Prescription medications
✔ Follow-up surgery & recovery care

We created a website where you can follow Mama Beth’s full journey .. every receipt, record, and update is there for transparency and love. Please feel free to explore and learn more:

Her Fight Continues, and We Are Praying for a Miracle

Dear family, friends, and kind-hearted supporters,

Thank you so much for all your prayers, love, and support. It means so much to us during this very difficult time.

Our greatest priority right now is to help Mom survive and continue receiving the care she needs. She was admitted to Veterans Memorial Medical Center on April 7, 2026 and discharged on April 16, 2026 after treatment for partial small bowel obstruction related to her stage IV ovarian cancer, with follow-up care still needed.

Last April, the doctor told us she had about 3 months, and now we have been told she may only have around 4 to 6 weeks left. We are still praying for a miracle, and we are doing everything we can to give her the best chance to keep fighting.

Her last wishes are for palliative care and for me to be by her side. I love my mom deeply, and I would regret it if I were not able to give her the comfort and care she wants. With God’s guidance, I made the difficult decision to take a leave without pay from my job so I can stay with her and care for her during this time.

I want to be honest about why we are asking for help. Our priority is to raise support for her medical needs first, because we want her to have every chance to survive and receive the treatment she needs.

Here is what we need help with:
  • Chemo treatment if she survives: around $750 each session.
  • Major operation to remove her ovary if needed: around $8,333.
  • Wake and cremation in the Philippines, if it comes to that: around $2,000.

We are hoping and praying that she makes it through, but we also need to be prepared for whatever comes next. These expenses are far beyond what our family can manage on our own.

I want my mom to live. That is my prayer every day. But she has also said that she is tired from all the chemo, and we understand how hard this has been for her. At this point, it is all in God’s hands.

Any amount of help, whether through a donation, sharing this fundraiser, or keeping us in your prayers, will make a huge difference. Thank you for standing with us and helping us fight for Mom’s life and comfort.

With all my love,
Arnie Veloza
