Hello, my name is Mahmoud Tafesh, a 35-year-old Electrical & Computer Engineer from Gaza.
For the past two years, my family and I have been living through unimaginable suffering caused by the war that began in October 2023 — and continues to this day.
Before the war, I had my own office, working every day as a Talent Acquisition Officer, helping talented people in Gaza’s IT sector connect with international companies for training and job opportunities. My work gave hope to many families. But the war destroyed my office, cut off electricity and internet, and took away my ability to earn a living.
Our Struggle for Survival
When the bombings began, we were forced to flee our home multiple times. Our house suffered partial damage, which I tried to repair just enough so we could live in it again.
I am the sole provider for my wife Afnan, my 3-year-old son Omar, and my elderly parents who live with us. During the war, we faced months of siege — trapped inside our home, terrified to step outside because of constant shelling.
We suffered extreme hunger due to closed borders and lack of food supplies in Northern Gaza. At one point, we were forced to share a single piece of bread made from animal feed and corn because flour was unavailable.
Living in Fear and Poverty
We moved more than 6 times in search of safety, but every place brought new challenges — high rent, lack of clean water, unstable electricity, and almost no internet access. I rented a small shared workspace to keep working, but the costs are overwhelming, and I can barely cover our basic needs.
Our health has worsened. Just last week, my wife and I became seriously ill from malnutrition and contaminated water. We went to hospitals, but they only accept war injuries — so we had to buy expensive medicine from private clinics to recover.
My Son Omar
When the war began, Omar was just 1 year old. Now, at 3 years old, he has never known a safe or normal life.
I dream of enrolling him in a kindergarten where he can learn, play, and grow into a smart, happy child — but in Gaza’s current situation, it’s impossible. We live in constant fear. Every time I take him outside, I’m afraid we might not make it back home.
Why I Need Your Help
We have been drained financially, emotionally, and physically after nearly two years of war.
I want to take my family to safety — away from bombs, hunger, and disease.
I want to give Omar a real childhood, access to proper education, and a chance to grow in a peaceful environment.
I want to find a secure home, restart my work, and live with dignity.
How Your Donation Will Help
Your support will help us:
- Travel out of Gaza to a safe country.
- Secure safe housing for my family.
- Access proper medical care for me, my wife, and my parents.
- Enroll Omar in school so he can have the future every child deserves.
- Rebuild our lives and return to work without fear.
Even the smallest donation can make a huge difference for us.
If you cannot donate, please share our story — it may reach someone who can help.
Please, from my heart — help us escape this nightmare and start a new life in safety.
Thank you for reading and for caring.
— Mahmoud & Family
