Hope for Luna: Fighting FIP Together

Donation protected
My sweet cat Luna was recently diagnosed with wet Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), a disease that until very recently was considered untreatable and almost always fatal. Thanks to new breakthroughs, treatment has finally been approved in Canada, giving cats like Luna a real chance at recovery. Unfortunately, the medication and ongoing care are very costly—around $2,500 or more for the full course of treatment and monitoring.

Luna has been through so much already. The FIP has caused fluid to build up in her stomach, making it difficult for her to breathe comfortably. Some of this fluid was drained to give her relief, but too much can’t be removed safely as they can go into shock. She has also lost weight, muscle mass, and developed a heart murmur. Despite all of this, Luna continues to fight. She still shows her gentle, loving personality, and she deserves the chance to live the full, happy life that this treatment can give her. ❤️

Treatment involves 84 days of daily medication, along with frequent vet check-ups and then 84 days of careful observation to make sure she is truly in remission. It’s a long road, but the success stories of other cats who have beaten FIP with this treatment give us so much hope.

Luna also has a sister, Hazel, from the same litter. The two of them were rescued as tiny kittens from a dumpster, and we adopted them through Carma Cat Rescue as a bonded pair because of their inseparable relationship. Where one goes, the other follows. Hazel has been by Luna’s side through everything, and saving Luna’s life also means saving Hazel from the heartbreak of losing her best friend. They’ve never known life apart, and with your help, they won’t have to!

We are asking for help to cover the costs of her medication, veterinary visits, and ongoing monitoring. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward giving Luna the care she needs to survive and thrive.

If you aren’t able to donate, even sharing Luna’s story means the world to us. Thank you for taking the time to read about her journey, and for supporting her fight against FIP.

With gratitude,
Sarah, Ben, Luna, Hazel & their brother Moo.
