Imagine the worst pain you have ever been in; childbirth, cancer, amputation, shingles, kidney stones, a toothache ….remember that? Now imagine a pain WORSE than all those things (see pain scale above), and it NEVER goes away!
Imagine, just wearing clothes, taking a shower, or getting a hug are all excruciatingly painful! That is what it’s like living with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). It is considered incurable. You can understand why it also known as The Suicide Disease.
Our daughter, Kiah Goettlich has lived with this pain for 11 long years! Imagine going through middle school, high school and college feeling like this!! We have exhausted our savings and retirement funds trying to find ways to lessen the pain, with very little hope for her.
HOWEVER, we have found a Dr. in Arkansas that is treating this disease and people are leaving in TOTAL REMISSION!! They offer a different type of therapy that focuses on the vagus nerve and treating the source of the pain instead of masking it temporarily. Having learned about this therapy, we feel more hopeful now than we have in a very long time about the possibility of healing and living pain free. After all this time we had come to accept that pain would be a part of her life forever. However, this therapy is not covered by insurance and is very costly.
