Meet Josh and Jacy — two of the kindest souls you’ll ever meet. (Okay, maybe Jacy’s the sweeter one, but Josh has a big heart too — just with a bit of stubbornness!) They're both animal lovers, both proudly serving in the military, and recently got engaged — ready to begin their life together.
But on September 29th, their world was turned upside down.
Jacy found Josh after he had fainted and quickly called for an ambulance. True to his stubborn nature, Josh resisted, but thankfully he agreed to go. After a series of tests at the hospital, doctors discovered that Josh had suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm.
That same night, he underwent surgery to place a shunt in his brain to relieve the pressure and drain the bleeding. He was then placed on a ventilator to allow his body to rest and begin healing.
Since then, it’s been a rollercoaster. The brain injury has left Josh confused and agitated, and despite maxing out sedation medications, he became disoriented during a CT scan. In the struggle, he vomited and aspirated, leading to a serious infection and fever. Doctors quickly placed him on a cooling mat to stabilize his temperature.
The good news: the bleeding has stopped, fluid is being successfully drained from his brain, and he’s expected to be extubated shortly after he has surgery and begin breathing on his own again soon.
However, Josh still has a long road ahead. He’ll be out of work for an extended period, and Jacy is doing everything she can to support and care for him. That’s why I’m starting this fundraiser — to help cover medical and living expenses during this difficult time, and to take some of the financial weight off Jacy’s shoulders so she can focus on what matters most: being there for Josh.
If you can help in any way — whether through a donation, by sharing this story or supporting his business Deathless Apparel (link at bottom)— it would mean the world to them. Every little bit helps as they navigate this unimaginable journey together.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
