Help Joey Rebuild Her Life After a Kidney Transplant
Joey is 22 years old — bright, kind, and full of dreams. She’s the kind of person who lights up a room, always thinking of others even when she’s struggling herself. She had big plans for college and a future in helping others, but in 2020, COVID-19 changed everything.
The virus caused serious and permanent damage to Joey’s kidneys. Over the next few years, her health declined. She had to leave college, give up working, and put her life on hold just to survive. Despite it all, she stayed hopeful and strong.
Then, in early July 2025, Joey received the gift of life — a kidney from a selfless 21-year-old donor. This young hero gave Joey a second chance of life, and for that we are forever grateful.
But recovery is long, and Joey still faces major challenges. She will need to take immunosuppressants for the rest of her life to prevent her body from rejecting the kidney. These medications, along with ongoing hospital visits, lab tests, and follow-up care, are not fully covered by insurance.
She won’t be able to work for at least 6-12 months as she heals, and the cost of her medications and basic living expenses is overwhelming.
Joey dreams of returning to college, picking up where she left off, getting back to work, and eventually helping others the way so many have helped her. She wants her story to be one of survival, strength, and purpose — not of struggle.
We’re raising funds to help cover her:
• Life-saving medications
• Post-transplant medical bills.
•. Monthly IVIG infusions
• Transportation to and from medical appointments 2 days a week
Any amount helps, and even if you can’t give, sharing her story makes a world of difference.
