On November 8, 2019, my brother Sauaki married the love of his life Hone, and they were expecting their first child in December. After they married, Sauaki returned to North Dakota for work to help support his growing family. Three weeks later he received a devastating phone call that his wife was involved in a tragic car accident. She had been rear-ended on the San Mateo Bridge (photo attached of the accident). Sauaki was on a plane from North Dakota to California when he was informed that doctors needed to perform an emergency C-section to save their baby. Sauaki arrived at the hospital to see his newborn son in the NICU while his wife was fighting for her life. Hone had suffered a traumatic brain injury and was put on life support, but thankfully baby Atimoa was born very healthy at 7lbs and 21 inches. Atimoa is now home with Sauaki, and while Hone is now awake, she is still in the hospital and has a very long road to recovery. This has been an incredibly challenging time for Sauaki and our entire family. Hone has been transferred to a different hospital that is over an hour and a half away from Sauaki and baby Atimoa, and they are facing very difficult financial hardships. Sauaki, Hone, and baby Atimoa are so thankful for all your prayers and know they have played a vital role in Hone’s recovery and Atimoa’s health. They send everyone their love and appreciation. While Hone is in the hospital and Sauaki has been laid off from work, this family needs any financial help you can give. Any gift is greatly appreciated. God bless all of you and Ofa atu!!!
