Herb has spent his life helping others. As the owner of Cushman Diesel, he built his business from the ground up, serving so many folks around the Lake of the Ozarks with honesty, skill, and heart. He poured everything he had into that shop — it was more than his livelihood, it was his passion. But when illness struck, Herb lost not only his health, but the business he loved.

His journey began with a life-altering Alpha-Gal diagnosis, and before he could catch his breath, came an even harder blow - cancer. Since then, Herb and Renata have been traveling from The Lake of the Ozarks to Siteman Cancer Center for treatments, trials, follow-ups, and endless medication changes. Through it all, they’ve faced setback after setback with quiet strength, grace, and faith.

What makes this couple so special is how much they’ve given back, even while life tested them. Herb and Renata have opened their home and hearts as foster parents, and are also caring for Renata’s widowed grandmother in their home since the passing of grandpa, which came just before Herb’s diagnosis.

But right now, the road is steep. Between lost income, travel expenses, medical bills, and the emotional weight of it all, they need some relief — a bit of light in a very dark time.
