My name is Alvin, but my friends and family call me "Turbo" or "Roopesh." Not long ago, my life changed in a way I never could have imagined.
One day I was living the life I loved—working, supporting my family, being a husband and a father. Then everything stopped. I suffered a stroke that led to multiple brain surgeries, and in an instant, the life I knew was gone. I lost my ability to speak, to walk, and even to move my left hand. My whole world—and my family’s world—was turned upside down.
For a long time, I couldn’t communicate. I couldn’t stand. I couldn’t hold my family the way I used to. The simple things we take for granted were suddenly impossible.
But I refused to give up.
Through determination, therapy, and the incredible support of my loved ones, I have fought every single day to reclaim pieces of my life. I’ve regained my speech, and I’ve recovered some movement on the left side of my body. Those victories mean everything to me. But I still cannot walk, and the road to recovery is far from over.
Before the stroke, one of my greatest passions was cars. I’ve always loved driving—the feeling of being behind the wheel, the freedom of the open road, and the joy of simply going for a drive. It was something that brought me happiness and a sense of independence. One day, I hope to experience that feeling again and get back behind the wheel.
The hardest part of this journey has been feeling like my life—and my role in my family—was suddenly taken away. I had to stop working. I had to stop being the husband and father I knew I was. Instead of helping my family, I now rely on them.
But I’m still fighting. Every day.
I am doing everything I can to get mobile again and take my life back. My dream is simple: I want to walk again. I want to help with chores around the house. I want to dance with my wife in the kitchen like we used to. I want to barbeque and make lasagna for my friends and family again.
The stroke affected my entire left side—from my vision to my mobility. But I’m still here, still pushing forward.
There is a stem cell treatment that could help me continue my recovery and give me a real chance at walking again. Unfortunately, this procedure and the care around it are expensive and not covered by insurance.
That’s why I’m asking for help.
Your support—whether it’s a donation or simply sharing my story—means more than words can express. You’re not just helping with medical treatment; you’re helping a husband fight to stand beside his wife again and a father fight to be there for his family.
Life can change in a moment. Mine did. But I believe with everything in me that this is not the end of my story.
I’m fighting every day to walk again, to work again, and to be the husband and father my family deserves.
Thank you for being part of this fight and for helping me take the next step toward getting my life back.
