I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to share my story and ask for your support during a challenging time in my life.

My name is Kim, I’m 31 years old and I am living with a condition called lipedema, which has significantly impacted my quality of life. I was diagnosed last year as early stage 3 Lipedema. Lipedema is a chronic disorder characterised by the abnormal accumulation of fat cells, primarily in the legs and hips, causing pain, limited mobility, and emotional distress. Alongside lipedema, I also struggle with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which presents its own set of challenges, including fertility issues.

After much consideration and consultation with medical professionals, I have made the difficult decision to undergo surgery to address my lipedema and alleviate the associated symptoms. These surgeries, along with ongoing medical treatments such as compression therapy and lymphatic drainage, comes with a significant financial burden. The estimated cost of surgery, post-operative care, and additional treatments is approximately $80,000. My health fund will only give me back $3,000.00 for all four of my surgeries. This amount will barely cover the 8 weeks off work I need to recover from my surgeries.

The primary goals of these surgeries is to reduce pain, improve mobility, and enhance my overall quality of life. Additionally, addressing my lipedema is crucial for my long-term health and well-being. As someone who dreams of starting a family, managing my PCOS and improving my overall health increases my chances of conceiving and carrying a child.

Unfortunately, the financial aspect of this journey is daunting, and I cannot do it alone. This is why I am humbly asking for your support. Your generous contributions will go directly towards covering the cost of surgeries, medical treatments, and associated expenses. Every donation, no matter the amount, brings me one step closer to receiving the care I desperately need.
