Hope for Hartley! Help the Davidson Family

Donation protected
Hart and Tina Davidson have been giving of themselves for as far back as many who know them can remember. Hartley has dedicated the bulk of his life to working hard for his family, including his wife Tina, his two incredible daughters Sawyer & Saylor, and countless folks in his community of water-skiers, church family, and GE colleagues. In his spare time, Hart wouldn’t bat an eye at taking a crew of kids to Taylorsville Lake to show them the joys of time out on a pair of skis—or just one, for the truly bold athletes!—and never expected anything but smiles and laughter as his repayment for a day out on the water.

As many of you know, after years of giving of themselves to their family, their God, and their community, Tina and Hart finally decided to take a little time for their own adventure: Tina embarked on a travel nursing assignment in California, and Hartley joined her here in sunny Sacramento in January. But just a few days after his arrival they got news that has subsequently turned their world upside down and this adventure into the fight of their lives: Hart received a diagnosis of mucosal melanoma of the maxillary sinus, which has metastasized to his liver and bone. This type of melanoma is extremely aggressive and rare, making treatment an even bigger challenge.

While this news is core-shaking, Hartley and Tina ultimately feel that God placed them here in Sacramento for a reason: They are just 15 miles away from University of California Davis, a facility that has encountered and treated this devastating disease before as well as hosts ongoing clinical trials for second line treatment options should they need alternative therapies down the road to recovery. Hart is currently undergoing immunotherapy, and he, his family and all of his friends are hoping and praying everyday for healing.

While they are here in California, Tina and Hart are living in the camper they originally planned to drive across the country. In between doctors appointments and immunotherapy infusions with Hart, Tina currently continues her work full-time as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurse. She is a truly gracious and giving partner to Hartley through all of this, a supportive mom to her daughters, and despite the heavy weight on her spirit, she continues to give her tiny patients the best of herself every time she clocks in for her 12-hour shifts at the hospital.

So many people across the country—actually, all over the world!—have reached out in order to find a way to help this family of gracious givers, and this GoFundMe is what we have come up with. Whether your generous donation goes toward mounting medical bills, a mortgage payment, a fancy smoothie Hart can stomach between treatments, or a day off with the whole family where Hart and his girls get to spend that precious all-too-often overlooked quality time together, believe us when we say those dollars couldn’t have been better spent.

This family has been there for so many others during their time on this earth, and now it’s our turn to be there for them. So come on, family and friends of the Davidsons: Let’s return the love and support they’ve shown us ten-fold and lift them up from this deep dark time in their lives.

Please consider making a donation and sharing this with family and friends. Any amount is a help, and every prayer lifted up is heard.

Note: It has been very difficult for Tina and Hartley to accept the financial help from friends and family that we are all so eager to give. We suppose that they likely just aren’t used to being on the receiving side of donations, as they have freely helped those in need for most of their lives.

As their network of friends and family, we all have felt the weight on our hearts to help but not known what kind of help is needed. This GoFundMe was created as a channel for that much-needed and appreciated support; Every gift is a blessing and showing of your love for this incredible family.

Hart's daughter Saylor designed these tattoos, and all three girls got them together on their last visit in California.  The black "A" is the Melanoma Ribbon.

These two cancer fighters are stronger than Tina's hairspray!
