If you’ve ever met Hannah, you know her for her radiant smile, her kind heart, and her unshakable positivity. She’s the type of person who asks how you’re doing, even while quietly battling unimaginable pain of her own.
At just 23, Hannah has spent the last seven years navigating a complex and exhausting medical journey. Her body first began reacting at age 16 with consistent, unexplained seizures...her nervous system’s way of shutting down in response to extreme, unmanaged pain. Hospital visits became routine. Misdiagnoses piled up. It wasn’t until years later that she was diagnosed with severe and aggressive endometriosis, a chronic condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus, spreading to other organs and causing relentless pain.
Since then, Hannah’s life has been anything but normal. She was forced to leave school due to seizures triggered by sudden noises. As those became regulated, chronic, excruciating pain took over, eventually diagnosed as endometriosis. Multiple surgeries attempted to remove the tissue, but the condition only worsened, affecting not just her education, but her energy, independence, and ability to live day-to-day. Still, she’s faced each setback with grace, resilience, and unwavering faith.
Unfortunately, in Canada, access to a hysterectomy—currently the only known long-term relief for extreme cases like Hannah’s—is limited for someone her age. After exhausting every possible option at home, her parents, Heidi and Carlos, made the difficult decision to pursue private medical care in Mexico, where they have extended family and access to specialized treatment.
On Wednesday, July 16th, Hannah underwent a hysterectomy. But during the surgery, doctors discovered the extent of the disease, endometriosis had spread throughout her entire body, complicating the procedure and making recovery far more intense and prolonged.
Now begins a long and painful road to healing, physically, emotionally, and financially.
Heidi is in Mexico full-time, caring for her daughter. Carlos is still working under the demands of a high-pressure job, doing everything he can to support his family. But no parent should have to choose between being present for their child and keeping up with mounting medical costs.
This fundraiser is to help ease that impossible burden.
Your donation will go directly toward:
- Hannah’s ongoing medical and post-surgical care
- Travel and accommodation expenses for her family
- Support for Heidi, who has had to stop working to care for Hannah full-time
- Relief for Carlos, so he can step away from work and be by his daughter’s side
- Therapy and long-term recovery support for Hannah
