October 1st is a day we will never forget as our pug Hank was rushed to the Emergency Vet.
Hank woke up that morning having issues walking and standing and seemed like he was in pain. Once we reached the ER a Neurologist suggested an MRI to determine a clear diagnosis. Results came back later that afternoon showing three herniated discs in his spine T11, T12 & T13, also known as IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) leaving Hank in a lot of pain, completely paralyzed in his back end and incontinent.
The vets estimated that the surgery would cost $12,000. However, given the severity of Hank’s condition there was no guarantee that the surgery would be successful. Unfortunately, this was also not an option we could afford.
So after 10 long hours of waiting in the vets parking lot (due to Covid) and a very large vet bill ($3,000+) we made the decision to bring Hank home and try an alternative method of recovery. This includes multiple medications, physiotherapy, chiropractic care and acupuncture.

We have also been renting a wheelchair from our therapist at $75/month but it’s not the best fit. Canine wheelchairs are made to fit your dog specifically and Hank’s little barrel body makes this rental chair uncomfortable for him to use. We are praying he will not need this long term.
Wherever Hank’s recovery and journey may lead we are trying our best to remain positive and hopeful. Hank has been our sidekick and the best pug anyone could ask for. He has a talent for making people laugh and brings an abundance of joy to our lives.
Any amount donated will help bring HOPE FOR HANK’S RECOVERY and help us provide him with the chance of leading a normal dog life; he deserves nothing less!
THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS!
