I’m reaching out today with a heavy heart to share what our family is going through. My father-in-law, Hamdy Tawfick — a devoted husband to Connie and proud father to Yasmine and Hany — recently underwent a life-saving surgery that resulted in the amputation of his leg above the knee.

While we are incredibly grateful that Allah has preserved his life, Baba Hamdy remains in critical condition. His kidneys have not fully recovered, and he is currently on dialysis. Due to heavy sedation, he is still unaware of the amputation. As we wait for him to wake up, we are deeply worried about how he will react and the emotional toll this news will have on him.

The journey ahead is overwhelming. In addition to healing physically and emotionally, Baba Hamdy will need:

• A specialized prosthetic to help him regain his mobility

• Extensive rehabilitation and physical therapy

• Home modifications to make his environment safe and accessible

• Relocation support, since his current home is no longer suitable for his needs

• Ongoing dialysis, medical care, equipment, and living expenses

We want to make sure that Baba Hamdy has the best possible quality of life moving forward — to give him comfort, dignity, and hope in this new chapter. Sadly, insurance covers only a fraction of these needs, and many critical costs fall on the family.
