Why we need donations and ticket sales.

Who is Hallie?

Hallie Smith is a friend of ours and the Chattanooga Community who has had made beauty out of tradedy the last two years of her life but now she needs our help. Hallie Smith grew up in Chattanooga living in Ooltewah Tennessee she attended Snow Hill, Hunter Middle School, and then went on to attend Ooltewah High School. She was always involved in extra curriculars, a sweet friend, and a major softy for cats and dogs. She went on to become an animal activist fostering dogs in need, becoming a veterinary tech, and over the last two years made plans to pursue her education as a VET! She had dreams and was on her way to pursuing them when tragic road blocks were thrown in her path, but once again she powered through with more than a smile. She has been making an impact on her community by continuing to serve as a vet tech and foster mom through it all. This week she discovered her brain tumor contains Glioblastoma.

Glioblastoma is rare and a challenging cancer to fight. Hallie, if anyone, is going to be able to kick its ass, but financially this is going to take them for a ride. While Hallie has insurance her insurance coverage only covers 50% of bills from hospitals outside of her insurances network making the specialty treatments and visits she is going to need extremely expensive.  Proton radiation is around $120,000 alone, plus Chemo, and if surgery becomes an option they are looking at another huge bill. Medical expenses plus living expenses at the hospital, and back home expenses since they will all be off work are going to mount. We can RALLY together even if you can only donate $5 to take one meal off of their hands it will help.

What does Hallie have?
Glioblastoma is a type of astrocytoma, a cancer that forms from star-shaped cells in the brain called astrocytes. In adults, this cancer usually starts in the cerebrum, the largest part of your brain.
Glioblastoma tumors make their own blood supply, which helps them grow. It's easy for them to invade normal brain tissue. How Common Is It? Brain cancers aren’t common. And when they do happen, about 4 out of 5 aren’t glioblastomas. Men are more likely to get them than women. And chances go up with age. Doctors diagnose about 14,000 glioblastoma cases in the U.S. each year.
