Help Grizzly Heal – Support Our Brave Puppy’s Recovery
Dear friends, family, and kind strangers,
Our 7-month-old Rottweiler puppy, Grizzly, is currently being treated at UPENN Ryan Veterinary Hospital after suffering a traumatic injury to his neck and skull. On June 23rd, Grizzly was diagnosed with an acute C2 vertebral fracture (Salter-Harris type IV) and a rostral skull depression fracture, after suddenly returning from outside in pain, bleeding from the nose, and unable to move his neck comfortably.
Thankfully, Grizzly does not currently require brain surgery, and his doctors are very hopeful he will recover. However, spinal surgery may still be needed, pending further neurological evaluation and response to conservative treatment. He’s under the expert care of UPENN’s neurology team, receiving around-the-clock monitoring, advanced imaging, and pain management.
This sweet boy came into our lives in February 2025, just weeks after we lost our first Rottweiler, Jagger, to osteosarcoma. The grief hit our family hard — myself (Mike), my wife Amanda, and our children Rozzie and Cameron — and Grizzly has been an absolute light through that darkness. He’s helped us begin to heal, and now we’re asking for your help to give him the same chance.
His emergency care is critical and ongoing, but the cost is overwhelming. If you are able to contribute, your support will go directly toward Grizzly’s hospitalization, diagnostics, and potential surgical needs. Any remaining funds will be donated in Grizzly’s name to UPENN, to support other pet owners who may not have the means to save their beloved animals during emergencies.
From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
With love and gratitude,
Mike, Amanda, Rozzie, Cameron & Grizzly
