Three weeks ago, our sweet boy Dante had knee surgery. We thought this would be the start of his healing — but instead, complications have left him fighting for his life.
After surgery, Dante stopped eating well, became constipated, and quickly lost two pounds. This week, he was diagnosed with cholangiohepatitis (liver/bile infection), pyelonephritis (kidney infection), and fatty liver disease from not eating enough post-operation.
The good news is that these conditions are treatable. Dante is now hospitalized, receiving IV fluids, strong antibiotics, and supportive care. With this treatment, he has a real chance to fully recover and return to the playful, loving companion he’s always been.
His care is costly. We’ve already spent over $5,000 on his orthopedic surgery and early treatment. Current hospitalization costs about $1,500/day, plus labs and medications. While we’re doing everything we can, this is more than we can manage on our own.
Dante isn’t “just a cat” — he’s family. He curls up with our kids at bedtime, follows them everywhere, and has been their little shadow for years. We are asking for help to cover his hospital care so he can come home and keep being such an important part of their lives.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading, donating, and sharing Dante’s story.
