Hope for Christine's Recovery

It’s been no secret that my mom, Christine, hasn’t exactly had the best health over the past few years. Years of cigarette smoking have lead her to diagnoses of COPD, PAD, and Emphysema. She has been on oxygen 24/7 over the past year or so, and has been in and out of the hospital a lot since January 2025. Well, my mom said she couldn’t breathe last night and ended up going by ambulance to MercyOne in Dubuque. They started her on bipap, which was ineffective. By midnight last night, she was transferred to the ICU and they placed her on a ventilator. Her vitals are stable on the ventilator (that is breathing for her), but if she goes off the vent, she won’t be able to breathe. She’s currently under deep sedation and has a long road to recovery ahead of her (if she’s even able to get on the road). We are raising funds to put towards medical bills (because she is on a limited disability income) and other recovery resources. If she doesn’t make the road towards recovery, all funds will be put towards funeral expenses.
