The Fight of His Life. Their world was shattered when Chris was suddenly diagnosed with a rare aggressive melanoma cancer that had metastasized before Chris was aware of it in November of this year. Chris went into urgent care for what he believed was a job related injury only to be given the most devastating news one could be given. This specific spindle cell melanoma is a rare, relentless, and an aggressive enemy and standard chemotherapy has not shown to be a successful treatment for this type of cancer, and radiation often causes recurrence so Chris has to look for other options that his family cannot afford on their own.

He has a wife who is his world and young children who still need him to walk them through life’s milestones. They are his "why"—the reason he is willing to travel any distance and endure treatment to stay with them. As the primary provider, his inability to work during this journey has placed an unimaginable weight on their shoulders. Because this treatment is highly specialized and requires travel to San Diego, the costs are immense and not covered by traditional insurance. Travel and Lodging: Getting Chris to San Diego and maintaining a safe place for him to stay during weeks of outpatient treatment.
