Hi, my name is Arbehn. I am a proud Cebuano, and while my family, relatives and friends are in Cebu, Philippines, I am currently in the UK working hard to earn a living and support my loved ones back home.

Being far from them has never been easy—each day I endure the loneliness and homesickness that come with being away from my family—but I hold on to the hope that my sacrifices will help provide them with a better life and brighter future.

Just as the people of Cebu were beginning to regain their strength and hope after the devastating magnitude 6.9 earthquake last September, another catastrophic disaster struck. On November 4, Typhoon Kalmaegi (Tino) made landfall, unleashing unimaginable destruction across many parts of the country.

Entire communities have been ravaged—lives were lost, thousands displaced and countless homes submerged or swept away. Vehicles floated in floodwaters, properties were destroyed and many survivors are left with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

The back-to-back calamities have left families not only physically and emotionally exhausted but also financially devastated.

Tragically, some of my relatives and friends are among those deeply affected and even my own family has not been spared from this disaster.

It breaks my heart to witness such suffering, especially as Christmas draws near—a season that should be filled with hope, peace and joy.

Right now, many families urgently need food, clean water, clothing and shelter.
