Hope for Brunhilda: Help Her Fight and Heal

Brunhilda a devoted mother, living in Cameroon has been courageously battling Chronic Myeloid Leukemia since 2018. With little improvement in her condition, she needs to urgently travel for specialized treatment overseas. Your support can help save her life.

Brunhilda’s Journey

Brunhilda Ful is a vivacious and loving single mother of three, living in Buea, Cameroon.

In 2018, she was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid leukemia. A cytogenetic blood test detected the presence of the Philadelphia Chromosome, further confirming this diagnosis.

Brunhilda was initially treated with oral chemotherapy Gleevec and appeared to be responding well. However, 2 years ago as a result of her treatment, she began experiencing problems with her liver and spleen. A bone marrow suppression ensued further complicating her response to the treatment regimen.

She started a new treatment plan, Tasinga with better results. But this treatment also caused many side effects including anemia and a low platelet count. The resulting side effects have made Brunhilda dependent on frequent blood transfusions among other treatments to manage her symptoms.

Despite all these challenges, Brunhilda faces each day with hope, courage, gratitude and faith. Her health condition has prevented her from working this past year. She relies on the support and generosity of her friends and well-wishers to care for her family’s needs and medical bills. Her love for her beautiful girls gives her strength on difficult days. She hopes to continue making memorable moments with her daughters, including dancing together…their shared passion.

Access to care in Cameroon has been particularly challenging for Brunhilda, as there are very limited facilities caring for and offering specialized treatments for persons living with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. Brunhilda’s doctors have advised she urgently seek specialist medical care in India, including diagnostic tests, advanced treatment and possibly a bone marrow transplant; all which are not currently accessible to her locally.
