Several weeks ago my wife and I’s dog injured her back jumping off either our couch or bed. She was diagnosed with a herniated disc and was given two options, surgery or medication. We have been treating her for the last four weeks with medication, laser therapy, crating and trips to and from Metzgers Animal Hospital in State College but nothing is getting better, we are now left with the choice of prolonging this in hopes it gets better, have the surgery or have her put down. I’m not the type of person to look to anyone for a hand outs or ask anything of anyone but I just can’t keep letting our dog go through this. She was a great addition to our family after the passing of our beagle Bella, who we unfortunately had to have put down after a more severe back injury which surgery did not correct. Had I not just had my own accident with a knee injury and have money tied up in those bills I would have had my dogs surgery in a heart beat. I know my goal seems steep but the vet quote for the surgery is between $8-9,000.  I just can’t see losing two dogs within a year and a half of each other.
