Hope for Asma: A Young Mother's Battle
Donation protected
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read our story! My name is James Carteron, and I’m trying to raise funds for my sick wife, Asma Carteron. At the young age of 27, she was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Almost 2 years ago now, our lives have never been the same since.
It all started out with minor stomach irritation that we thought was nothing out of the ordinary. We treated the irritation as needed with over-the-counter medicines and went on about our days. As time went on, her stomach irritation turned into pain as well as trouble using the bathroom. Now concerned about her prolonged stomach pains, we went to a doctor for her to be examined. Once the results came back, it showed that there was a mass in the colon and a rise in her white blood cell count. Of course, scared as ever but hopeful for a positive outcome, the doctors then decided to take samples of the mass and fluids around the mass to examine them. The results from this test then changed the way we looked at life itself.
Since her diagnosis, she’s been fighting day and night to heal. She had to have a port sewn into her chest because she now needed excessive amounts of medication through IV. She went through months of at least three different types of chemotherapy and tons of pain medication. At first, the chemo was working and things were somewhat normal again. Unfortunately, with how strong certain chemo is, you can only get 8-10 cycles before it actually harms your body. So, eventually, we had to switch to a new chemo, but that chemo wasn’t working. We then had no choice but to switch back to the original chemo. We wanted to see where we could get and possibly plan a surgery. Unfortunately, the cancer was taking a toll on other organs rapidly, which led us back to the hospital.
As of right now, the doctors are implying that she won’t make it much longer due to her organs beginning to fail. With the tests they take, it’s showing that her organs are slowly decreasing over time. With her organs decreasing and the cancer still being there, their hope is very low. They’re doing the best they can to stabilize her pain as well as making sure she’s properly nurtured. However, we’re trembling with the idea that this might be the end. As you could imagine, our family is at a total loss. My wife and I have been together for 11 years and have two beautiful baby girls, ages 2 and 4.
Any sort of support is so much more appreciated than I could even express. Every single donation will be used strictly to ensure everything she needs paid for will be paid for! We’re not even 30 yet and have never imagined anything like this before. Not sure who could ever be prepared for something like this, but we sure weren’t. Be kind, be courteous, and hold your loved ones tight; it’s a short life lived.
Sincerely, the Carterons
