Hope for Anj - a Fundraiser
Donation protected
To our Friends and Family,
At the beginning of this year, our good friend Anj received the devastating diagnosis that she has Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer that has spread to the liver. It is shocking and completely unexpected, and right now she is scared and in despair. All she thinks about is Raym and their children: EJ, Joaquin, Rafa, Robyne, and Rae. Her days are filled with worry, and inasmuch as we want to be there for her, she is going to need help in ways that we, her family and friends, won’t be able to provide directly.
Her chemotherapy will begin in a few weeks, and hopefully surgery to follow. Currently, she is taking medication injected in her every few weeks to help stop the tumors from growing. Unfortunately, this medication costs $2K per injection, and is not covered by OHIP (our provincial healthcare coverage). Work benefits also only cover 20% of the cost.
We want to help Anj with her medication, and also provide the means to get cancer coaching and therapy. When chemotherapy starts and the treatment disables her from doing her day-to-day routine, we also want to seek outside help to assist with home care so her family can focus on spending time with her and taking care of her.
Anj is one of the kindest, most thoughtful, and most generous people I have ever known. I never want to wish ill on others, but I often think, “why Anj?” It is a tough pill to swallow.
No one should have to be in anguish while navigating such a difficult situation. Any financial burden should be the least of her concerns at this time.
In typical Anj-fashion, she initially declined help - she never wants to burden others. But she needs us this time. We hope to ease the load for her and help her get all the medical and mental supports she needs.
Any contribution would be greatly appreciated. And if you are not able to contribute money at this time, we would appreciate sharing this with others and saying a prayer for her. Thank you in advance for your support.
