Hope for a Hero Arm

Hi my name is Suaranjit and I was born in Malaysia.


When I was 7 years old I had to have my left hand amputated due to domestic violence. I was then taken to an orphanage where growing up with only one hand was difficult. Some children would be kind and offer to help me but others looked at me differently and called me an alien and to go away. Since then I have really struggled with my confidence and I find it difficult to talk about those memories.


When I got a bit older I would look for work but nobody would give me a job because I only had one hand. They thought because of my disability that I wouldn’t be able to do any work which is not the case. I now live in the UK and I am so grateful to be here. People are so much kinder to me in the UK. People say thank you to me, I had never experienced that before  :) I work really hard as a carer, looking after the elderly and people with special needs and I also look after my own family - my husband who is blind and my two children. 


I really hope that you can help me get a Hero Arm. It would make so much difference to my life. I would finally be able to do the things that everybody else can do. Prosthetics that I have tried in the past have never moved and have been really heavy. I have never found them helpful. The Hero Arm is a multi grip 3D printed bionic hand which is lightweight and functional. It would be able to help me with everyday tasks and take some of the strain off my overworked right hand, which causes me a lot of pain in my shoulder and back.

It makes me smile to think that one day I might be able to do my own hair and get dressed easier. 

If you could please help me with my campaign you would be helping me change my life. The Hero Arm would make me feel so special and more confident. I would like to shake you all by the hand and say thank you and why not...if we are still dreaming….The Hero Arm would make me feel like a character out of Star Wars. I would love to ride a motorbike off into the sunset with my two hands. People don’t expect me to say that. :)
