You never expect it to happen to your family, or your loved ones, and when it does your world goes a little silent. Acute myeloid leukemia. Cancer. Thats what brings me here, my dad has been an over the road truck driver most of my life. He was at the hospital with me when I had my son, and every milestone after. He has 4 kids, Shawn, Christopher, Catherine(me), and Matthew. Along with 9 grandchild. He's always been there whenever we may need him and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone. September 26th 2025 he had a DOT physical and his numbers were too high meaning he couldnt go back to work, nothing too strange its happened before with his diabetes. By the next check 3 months later he found out that his platelets were low and still couldn't go back to work. Dr told him he needed to come back in 2 to 3 weeks to check the platelets again. They have been dropping ever since then. Tuesday March 24th they did a bone marrow biopsy. Wednesday they called to have him come in and talk about the results and today Thursday they gave the diagnosis, Aggressive Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He has to leave Tuesday the 31st to start his aggressive chemo and radiation treatment. We have not even had time to process this let alone plan for it. We thought maybe we had some time to plan a nice benefit for him but he will be gone for likely months. He is going to fight as hard as he can. And we remain hopeful. He says he has to make it to my wedding to walk me down the isle in September. Any and all help is very appreciated as we will have to drive 2 hours 1 way many times in the coming months and he was the bread winner for my mom. I will update as we go along.
