Hope and Prayers for Payton: A Tiny Warrior’s Fight with GBS

Donation protected
On Monday, July 14, Aaron and Darienne's world changed overnight when their daughter, Payton, was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with a severe case of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) - a rare, rapidly progressing neurological condition that attacks the nerves and can lead to paralysis.

Payton has now been in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for over a week. Her condition has become extremely serious. Doctors have started an aggressive course of treatment that includes five cycles of plasmapheresis (a process that filters the blood) followed by two additional rounds of IVIG (an intensive immune therapy) in hopes of stopping the disease’s progression and helping her recover.

She is expected to remain hospitalized for at least the next month, with many unknowns ahead, including the need for physical therapy and rehabilitation once she begins to recover.

While facing this medical crisis, Aaron and Darienne are doing everything they can to hold their family together. In addition to supporting Payton around the clock, they’re also caring for her baby brother, just one month old, and her four-year-old big brother. With hospital life unfolding hour by hour, they’re managing rotating caretakers, sleepless nights, and the overwhelming emotional weight of watching their daughter fight for her life.

We’re asking for your support to help ease the growing financial strain so they can stay close to Payton without worrying about hotel costs, meals, gas, and other out-of-pocket expenses, enabling them to be fully present for their three young children, especially Payton, as she battles to heal.

Your donation will go toward:

- Hotel stays and daily meals near the hospital
- Transportation and parking during extended visits
- Basic living expenses during this PICU stay
- Future rehabilitation and physical therapy costs once Payton is stable enough to begin recovery

Any amount helps, and if you’re not able to give at this time, please consider sharing this page with others who might.

Thank you for standing with Payton and her family in this critical time. Your prayers, donations, and kindness are helping them stay strong.

With gratitude,
