Help Giro Jael Peralta Get the Rehabilitation Needed for Healing and Recovery

Our family is going through one of the most painful and uncertain moments of our lives. Giro Jael Peralta suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and has been in the ICU fighting every single day. Watching someone we love so deeply go through this has been incredibly difficult, but we continue to hold onto faith, hope, and the belief that healing is possible.

Giro is a very caring and loving young man who loves being around his family. He has a big heart and truly loves love. Giro brings warmth and light to the people around him and is the kind of person who always makes others feel supported and cared for. He still has his whole life ahead of him, and we are doing everything we can to help him continue his journey toward healing and recovery.

Giro has also faced personal battles with mental health, including bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Like many individuals navigating these challenges, he has fought quietly and courageously. His story is a reminder of how important it is to support those dealing with mental illness with compassion, understanding, and care.

As Giro continues this fight, the next important step is getting him into a specialized neurological rehabilitation program that focuses on brain injury recovery, therapy, and long-term healing. Programs that provide higher-level neurological care can give patients the best opportunity to continue improving and working toward recovery.

Our family is currently working to have Giro evaluated for advanced neurological rehabilitation. We are exploring specialized programs such as Craig Hospital in Denver, Colorado, which is known for its expertise in treating complex brain injuries. At the same time, we are also trying to transfer him to NYU Langone’s neurological rehabilitation program in New York, where he could receive specialized care closer to home and closer to his family.

Our goal right now is to make sure Giro has every possible opportunity and every resource needed to continue healing. We want to ensure he has access to the right rehabilitation program, specialized therapies, and advanced neurological care that can support his recovery journey.

This situation has also reminded our family of the importance of mental health awareness and support. We hope Giro’s story helps bring attention to the importance of caring for our mental health, supporting one another, and removing the stigma around mental illness. No one should ever feel alone in their struggles.
