In 2017, I was diagnosed with major depression and anxiety. Back then, it was manageable with medication and therapy alone, but as I’ve gotten older, the disease has become more difficult to work with.

Now, I’m struggling with treatment-resistant depression with suicidal thoughts and severe anxiety on a daily basis. My hope is to have a psychiatric service dog who will be able to help me in difficult situations where my emotions become unmanageable. This would look like helping me get out of bed in the morning, laying on me during panic episodes, helping sense heightened anxiety or stress to then remove me from the situation, to be there with me in crowds or during loneliness, especially to be there with me where most dogs are not allowed (i.e. work), etc. And ultimately, I am happiest when I’m with my dog.

As we all know, service dogs are very expensive, and unfortunately, I already have a significant amount of medical bills from numerous types of treatments I’ve tried. I am also unable to train my current dog, as she is suffering from a neurological disorder that has progressed so quickly she only has a couple years to live.
