Update (July 2026):
We wanted to share an update on where things stand following Victoria's surgery. We are so relieved to share that her surgery and recovery have gone smoothly! However, we were initially hopeful that she was nearing the end of active treatment, but her final pathology showed that she needs additional treatment to give her the best possible chance of preventing a recurrence. Over the next 10 months, she will undergo 14 rounds of Enhertu and radiation therapy. Because of this extended treatment, we have also increased our donation goal. Thank you all endlessly for your continued love, support, and generosity as we navigate this next chapter.

At just 27 years old, Victoria was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma (breast cancer) on January 2, 2026 — a diagnosis no young couple ever expects. What should have been a season filled with planning for the future quickly became a fight for her health. Victoria and her husband, Andrew, are now facing a long, overwhelming road together.

Victoria’s treatment plan includes chemotherapy, surgery, and long term hormone therapy. Before chemotherapy can even begin, Victoria and Andrew must urgently pursue fertility preservation to protect the possibility of having children in the future. This time sensitive step is critical, yet costly, and is often not fully covered by insurance.

Alongside fertility preservation, they are facing medical expenses related to chemotherapy and surgery, as well as many additional costs that insurance does not typically cover including cold capping to help preserve Victoria’s hair during treatment. These expenses add up quickly and place a significant financial strain on a young couple already navigating the emotional weight of a cancer diagnosis.

In addition to surgery, Victoria is planning to undergo a specialized double mastectomy with nerve reconstruction/nerve grafting, an advanced procedure designed to preserve sensation in the chest. With traditional mastectomies, many women lose feeling from their chest down toward their abdomen, and some are left with lasting nerve pain - a loss that goes far beyond the physical. For Victoria, preserving sensation means holding onto the ability to feel a hug, to feel her partner close, and one day, to feel her baby resting on her chest. This option offers hope for maintaining that connection, but it is not typically covered by insurance and often requires significant out-of-pocket costs.

Funds raised will go directly toward medical and treatment related expenses, including insurance copays and deductibles, out-of-pocket costs, lab work, medications, chemotherapy infusions, hospital stays related to surgery, and ongoing care. Donations may also help cover medical supplies and supportive items needed to manage side effects and keep Victoria as comfortable as possible throughout treatment and recovery.

As treatment progresses, Andrew may need to take time away from work to care for Victoria during chemotherapy, surgery recovery, and ongoing appointments. Balancing everyday living expenses while navigating cancer has added an enormous emotional and financial burden during an already unimaginable time.

Anyone who knows Victoria and Andrew knows their kindness, resilience, and deep love for one another. Your generosity helps lift an incredible weight from their shoulders and allows them to focus on what truly matters - healing, hope, and facing this journey together.

Every act of kindness - a donation, a share, or even a message means more than words can express and reminds them they are not alone.

Organizer Note: This fundraiser is organized by Shelby Monaghan, Victoria’s best friend. All donations will go directly to Victoria Moraga to help cover medical expenses and related costs. Shelby is managing this campaign to support Victoria during this challenging time.
