Ten years ago, shortly after Tanner was born, our sister Casey and her husband Thomas made what felt like the most responsible decision new parents could make, applying for life insurance. What they could never have imagined was how that simple step would change the course of their lives. During the required physical, Thomas was denied coverage due to weakened kidney function.

Further testing revealed that both of his kidneys were failing, and that a transplant would likely be needed in the future. Hearing that news as a young family was devastating, and yet, as we’ve watched over the years, they met it with courage, determination, and faith. From that moment on, Thomas and Casey did everything in their power to delay or avoid a transplant. Thomas committed himself to running and staying disciplined with his workouts. Casey poured her heart into researching kidney health, joining support groups, and preparing

meals with so much care and intention, following strict guidelines for months at a time. Despite their efforts, Thomas’s kidney function continued to decline.

About two years ago, just before the holidays, Thomas became sick and was hospitalized. Doctors advised that his kidneys could no longer function enough to support his body, and he would need to start dialysis. Since that day, Thomas has gone to dialysis every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 5:00 a.m., spending three and a half hours each session. He chose those early mornings so he could continue working and declined in-home dialysis because he wanted to protect his family from carrying the emotional weight of the process as much as possible.

When Thomas began dialysis, a family friend felt God place it on her heart to donate her kidney. Although she was not a match, she still chose to move forward with donation to help Thomas move higher on the transplant list. Her support has been far more than physical, it has been emotional and spiritual as well. Her prayers, and encouragement have been a source of deep comfort and strength to their family. Her obedience, generosity, and heart have reminded our family that God’s provision often comes through people. If you know Thomas and Casey, and Tanner and Tenley, you know that they are some of the most loving, generous, and selfless people you could meet. They are always the first to show up for others, to offer help, and to step in when someone is in need. A few weeks ago, they received the call they had been praying for, a perfect match. Thomas

transplant is scheduled for Tuesday February 24th. While this brings immense hope, it also comes with time off work (no PTO), recovery, and financial strain. They have been surrounded by an incredible community of friends and family who have walked with them through every season of this journey. As the transplant approaches, many have continued to ask how they can support Thomas and Casey during this time. This space was created as a way for those who feel led to help ease some of the burden, so they can focus on

healing, recovery, and caring for their family. Above all, we are grateful for every prayer, every act of kindness, and the love that continues to surround them.

So do not fear, for I am with you;

do not be dismayed, for I am your God.

I will strengthen you and help you;

I will uphold you with my righteous right hand
