Hope and Healing for the Hefner's

On Friday November the 12th I rushed my sister in law to the ED. The medical team quickly discovered a brain tumor. Her health took a more drastic turn shortly there after. She has been intubated (tube in to breathe for her) in the ICU since Friday. They saw a build up of fluid, her tumor and evidence of at least 2 small strokes on MRI. She has had her head shaved for a ventricular shunt to relieve some of the pressure from the extra fluid. She has a PICC line in place for IV nutrition and the many meds and drips she is currently requiring to live. She has undergone surgery to remove the tumor. They believe they were able to remove it all. We have sent the tumor for testing and are eagerly waiting for results. They have bound her breast to dry up her milk supply so that her body can focus on healing.

Tamara is a stay at home mom who has only ever wanted to be a mother. She is the kindest soul and the most selfless person I know. She is always so happy, positive and smiling. She brings joy to all those around her.

We are all in shock and disbelief. Many have reached out to ask if they can help in anyway. First of all, THANK YOU to all who have reached out. THANK YOU for all the positive thought, vibes and prayers. We continue to ask and need them. My brother has hardly left her side since this happened. They live only on his income and he will only get 60% of his pay while out for disability. Any financial support will help get them through this crisis. The last thing I want my brother worrying about is money. He wants and needs to be home to support his wife and son at this difficult time.

Tamara has has only started her journey for recovery. We are still unsure what life after this will be. Currently we are living one day at a time and praying hard for the best outcomes. Even with the best case outcome she will be looking at a long recovery and adjustment into a new life.
