A couple of weeks ago we received news of our mom’s cancer diagnosis. Although this has brought waves of emotions and uncertainty we have hope and endless faith in her recovery.

Sarah, is truly the foundation of our family. She is a devoted mother to seven children and a proud MiMi (grandma) to four. Her life has always been centered around loving, caring for, and supporting others. She is the kind of person who gives endlessly her time, her energy, her heart, and often puts her own needs last so that everyone around her feels safe, supported, and loved.

She was recently diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. Hearing those words has been a lot for us as a family, and the road ahead is uncertain and overwhelming. She will begin chemotherapy in hopes of shrinking the tumors in her abdomen and around her colon, followed by surgery and continued treatment as doctors determine the next steps. The physical, emotional, and financial toll of this journey is something we are all trying our best to support her in during this time where she needs us to show up for her now more than ever.

Even in the midst of this, my mom remains the same loving, kind, and selfless person she has always been. She worries more about her children and grandchildren than she does herself, and she continues to show strength and grace in ways that inspire us every single day. Watching someone who has given so much to others now face this trying time and asking for help does not come easily.
