Monday morning Ponzu had his routine zoomies & suddenly lost control of his back legs. He was unable to walk or even sit down without falling over. After an ER visit, neurologist, & an MRI, we discovered he has a spinal injury which has caused partial paralysis in his back legs, making him unable to walk or go to the bathroom by himself. As of now he needs around the clock care, which can be very physically demanding as he’s such a big boy. He’s currently on multiple medications and steroids. We’re hoping these will help him recover without surgery, but if he doesn’t improve he may need spinal surgery. We are taking this day by day & hoping to see improvement as time goes on. His walk may never fully improve but regardless I’m hoping & praying that he will be pain free & able to walk again soon. His medical bills as of 6/9/25 are almost $6500.
