If you're reading this, you probably know Patty Roddy, but in case you don't, let me (her youngest daughter) tell you a bit about her.

My mom is not the loudest person in the room or the most talkative, but she is one of those people that makes others feel seen and heard. She's funny and loyal and she loves with her whole heart. If you've ever invited her to a game night, you probably know she is very competitive. When she's afraid, she trusts that the Lord will protect her, and she keeps going. Every time. She has been my inspiration for as long as I can remember. And whether we are running errands together, on a weekend trip to the Oregon Coast, or watching the 1995 version of Pride and Prejudice (for the 500th time), I love spending time with my mom. She is one of my best friends in the whole world. She has seen me through the hardest times of my life.

She's been facing her own hardest time for several years now.

My mom has been battling cancer on and off for over 23 years. She has tried many different chemotherapy drugs over the last several years, and the doctors say they're running out of options.

So our family is looking into less conventional medicine. My parents have a friend that is receiving treatment at Envita Medical Center in Arizona (envita.com), and he says that things feel different there, like there is life and hope. They test how the patient's specific cancer responds to all kinds of medications and treatments instead of just trying the next option in a limited list. They treat the person as a whole instead of merely attacking the cancer and managing the symptoms.

We want to get Mom in for testing here so that they can find the treatment that her body will respond to the best. After the initial testing, it will probably be 12 weeks of treatment.

Unfortunately, since Envita uses an unconventional approach, they do not take insurance, since insurance companies would then get to dictate how they do things. Therefore, the cost of testing and treatment is completely out of pocket for the patient.

Which is where you come in, as friends, family, acquaintances, or even complete strangers. We are hoping to raise enough money to get mom started with the testing as soon as possible. Thankfully, some of that is done with a third party and IS covered by insurance, but about 7,000 of it is not. So that is our first goal, and after that, the treatment could be up to $200,000. If you are able to give, please consider it.

Thank you for reading this, for thinking and praying for Patty and our family, and for donating.

All the best,

Hannah and the Roddy Family
