With Meiko’s permission, we want to share an update on her daughter, Nailah.

At one month old (born November 1), baby Nailah was admitted to the hospital for support with medical needs. Sweet Nailah has now been in the hospital for the past three weeks as her medical team works closely to address challenges related to her health and weight gain. After further evaluation, doctors determined that she is experiencing heart failure caused by increased blood flow to her lungs. While her corrective surgery was initially expected to take place in several months, her care team has decided to move forward sooner. An interim procedure will be performed to help reduce the strain on her heart, with surgery potentially happening as early as this week.

Through it all, Nailah has shown incredible strength and resilience. Meiko is deeply grateful for the exceptional care her daughter is receiving from the Children’s Hospital team. In the midst of this difficult time, she has also shared how meaningful it was to have a photoshoot with Nailah just before her hospital stay—a moment of joy she will always cherish.
