My mom, Margaret—known and loved by everyone as Shorty—has always been the kind of person who lights up every room. Her outgoing spirit, warm charisma, and constant smile have a way of making everyone around her feel seen and uplifted. Recently, our world changed when she suffered multiple strokes and underwent major spinal surgery. Since then, her recovery has been incredibly challenging. She currently has no movement, is in and out of the ventilator, and is unable to speak, requiring around-the-clock care and intensive therapy. Watching someone so full of life face this has been heartbreaking, but we remain hopeful and committed to supporting her every step of the way.
