Support Kim & Mike Glover During This Medical Journey
Kim and Mike Glover are facing an incredibly difficult and unexpected season, and we are asking for support as they navigate this long and emotional road together.
Kim’s Medical Journey
In October, Kim went to the emergency room with severe weakness and anemia. Her hemoglobin levels were dangerously low, requiring multiple blood transfusions. Doctors initially suspected an internal bleed but were unable to find one. During this hospitalization, they discovered her liver was not functioning properly, and she was discharged home.
In November, Kim returned to the ER with the same symptoms -weakness and anemia - and was admitted again. After additional testing, doctors found she had a blood infection. She was treated for the infection and received more blood transfusions. Once again, doctors noted that her liver was not doing well and sent her home with medications to help restore vitamin and nutrient levels.
On December 8th, Kim was admitted to the hospital once more and received devastating news - she was in both liver and kidney failure. Since then, it has been a roller coaster of emotions and information as the family has worked through next steps.
About a week ago, Kim was transferred to USC Keck Medical Center in Los Angeles for transplant evaluation. She is currently in the ICU and on 24-hour dialysis. On the evening of December 22nd, the family received the news they had been praying for - Kim has been accepted and officially listed for a liver transplant.
Right now, the medical team is focused on keeping Kim as strong and healthy as possible while she waits for a donor liver. At this point, all Kim can do is wait.
