Hi, my name is Kora. I am starting this fundraiser for my sister, Jasmine and her family. Jasmine is a compassionate, hardworking, loving wife and mother. She means the world to me and to everyone who knows her. Right now she is facing some medical issues and financial hardship due to it.
In June Jasmine had a superficial blood clot in her right arm. Since it was superficial and not deep, it was considered to be on the "safe" side. Still, she had quite a bit of pain with this and it didn't heal on it's own. Jasmine ended up being on blood thinners for a month and thankfully that took care of it. Earlier that month she had gotten an awful UTI that left her with a lingering ache in her left kidney. Jasmine went to her doctor to figure out what was going on however the UTI was gone. The ache in her left kidney continued and since she has chronic UTI's her doctor ordered an ultrasound. Unfortunately, she had to cancel that appointment due to recently starting a new job and not having insurance yet. Fast forward to September 11th she was having severe left flank pain to the point where it was hard for her to move or talk. Jasmine couldn't stand the pain any longer so she went into the ED. Upon arrival the doctor ordered a CT scan thinking maybe she had kidney stones. Instead a mass was found on her left kidney. Now, about a year ago she had a CT scan completed and this spot they are seeing now was small and thought to have only been a cyst. During her recent ED visit the doctor informed Jasmine that the mass they found is "suspicious for a primary renal neoplasm." The provider then referred her to urology. On 9/15, Jasmine and her husband Jeremy met with the urologist team and they confirmed that the mass on her kidney is a tumor. Jasmine has surgery scheduled on 10/29 to remove this tumor and part of her kidney. At that point the tumor will be sent over to pathology to determine if its malignant or not. The doctor can't say for sure right now of course, but he's suspecting it is cancerous. The likelihood of this tumor being malignant is between 80-85%. The tumor has also grown 9mm in a matter of a year, whereas typical renal masses grow at a rate of 3mm per year. This is considered to be an aggressive tumor. We are praying Jasmine only needs surgery, so far this is the only discussion of treatment but we will know more once it is removed.
Jasmine and Jeremy haven't discussed this with their two little girls yet so please, if you see them out be mindful of your conversations.
All donations will go towards medical bills and help through her recovery while she takes time off of work.
We appreciate any donations made but also please keep Jasmine and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
