Our friends and family are facing something we never imagined, and we are asking for help for someone we love deeply. This is being shared on behalf of Frida’s family as they focus on supporting her through this unimaginable time.

Frida Gomez is currently in the ICU after suffering a severe stroke on Monday 12/29/25. The stroke was caused by a blood clot that passed through her heart due to a large hole that no one knew existed and traveled to her brain. An MRI later showed bleeding in her brain, confirming just how serious and life-altering this has been. Those who know Frida know that she is full of life and kind-hearted, and just days ago, her world changed in a single moment.

Since Monday night the effects have been heartbreaking. Frida is paralyzed on the right side of her face and right arm. Most devastating of all, she is no longer able to speak. Someone who once laughed, talked, and expressed herself freely is now communicating through hand signals, pointing to picture charts, or giving a simple thumbs up or thumbs down. Frida is also learning to eat normally again and is still confused at times and is trying to understand what has happened to her.

Doctors have told us that she will need to start speech therapy from the very beginning, essentially relearning how to communicate from zero. This will be a long, emotional, and exhausting journey that will require ongoing therapy, patience, and strength.

Frida will also need heart surgery in the near future to repair the hole in her heart and prevent this from ever happening again. Doctors are especially concerned because of how young she is to have suffered such a severe, life-altering stroke.

Right now, Frida’s family needs to focus entirely on supporting her, not worrying about how medical bills, therapy costs, surgery, and daily expenses will be paid.

More than anything, we want Frida back home, healthy, and fully recovered. We long to hear her laugh again and to hear her beautiful singing. Losing her voice has been one of the hardest parts of this journey for all of us, because her voice is such a big part of who she is. Not being able to hear her speak or laugh yet is incredibly painful, but we are holding onto hope that, with time, therapy, and support, she will find her voice again.
