Please help my partner, my soulmate, my person, my shining star, my beautiful wife Felicia.
After losing mobility in both of her legs she has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis an MRI revealing multiple lesions on both her brain and spine.
We met in a bar. I was in the band and she needed a ride home. We just knew. 3 months later the ride home became a ride vaguely West. After 36 years of constant togetherness that spanned 38 States, years of Van life together, countless Grateful Dead concerts and a string of parking lots and parks filled with kind people. We worked together from tattoo shops in Atlanta to making sushi in Arizona.
She has selflessly been there to help anyone who needed it. Buying meals for homeless people, and bags of dog food for their dogs. Whether you needed help moving, or painting a new place, building a fish pond, a deck or a second story on your home, she always had the skills and kindness to help. And yes, she can install a toilet by herself, just give her a crescent wrench and stand back. She has those skills.
Years ago, she and I left our travels and simple life by the beach to come back to Pennsylvania so that she could become the full time baby sitter for her new and first grand nephew. And, because life happens, she was there to take care of her father during his brain surgery and subsequent dementia diagnosis. Providing 24 hour care for him and her mother at a time they needed it the most, doing everything from meal preparation, changing the bedding, doing laundry, administering medication and bathing. She has always brought her shining light to everyone she encounters. I know her father left this world at peace, allowing him to stay in his home thru hospice, because of the comfort she unfalteringly provided.
Following his death, we decided to purchase a trailer, so that we could stay in the area to help assist her mother when needed. Our own tiny home/ big Van that we could take on the road when wanderlust struck once more.
However, with endless doctors appointments in the future, as well as medical treatment, it looks like we will be here for a while.
She is now confined to a wheelchair within a very small space to maneuver. It breaks my heart every day that when I get her into a chair when I leave for work, that is where she remains for 10+ hours. For a spirit created to dance in the sun, this is soul crushing everyday. I want to make her world bigger.
Any funds provided will be used to build a small deck with a wheelchair ramp (as the steps are unmanageable for her), so that she can go outside by herself. (Vitamin D is much needed for ms).
I would also like to get her an electric wheelchair that can handle dirt and gravel paths so that she can explore the campground we are at.
And also to help cover medical expenses and Co- pays that have totalled over $6k in the past 2 months alone.
Thank you for your kindness, consideration and prayers, and for sharing our story. Any donation is greatly appreciated as every shovel can move mountains.
Peace and love to all.
