Earlier this week, Emmett was admitted to the PICU after suddenly developing paralysis in his arms and legs. After extensive evaluation, doctors determined that Emmett has a neurological condition that is attacking his nerve cells. He is still undergoing testing as the medical team works to fully understand what caused this and determine the best path forward.

Emmett has begun treatment, but at this time he has not yet regained function in his limbs. Doctors are hopeful the treatment was started early enough to prevent the condition from spreading to his chest and throat, which could affect his ability to breathe. While there is hope this treatment will be effective, it is also possible additional treatments may be needed.

Tommy and Kim are taking things one day at a time and praying that Emmett’s body responds positively.
