In July of 2024 Danny was diagnosed with esophageal cancer at the junction of the esophagus and stomach. While undergoing Exploratory Surgery in October of 2025, he was told that the cancer spread to his diaphragm. He has gone through multiple rounds of chemo and immunotherapy since his diagnosis. In February of this year, Danny and his fiancé Angela traveled to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for three weeks of Proton Radiation Therapy. On March 24th, Danny once again went back to Mayo Clinic to have a PET and CT scan to find out the results of the radiation. It was determined at that time that he would undergo yet another exploratory surgery on April 1st to examine the status of the cancer in the esophagus and diaphragm. During the exploratory surgery, they did not find any cancer in the diaphragm, so they removed his esophagus. They believe they got all of the cancer by removing his esophagus but he will have a long road to recovery.
Danny is a father of four and most recently a grandfather to one beautiful little girl who has him wrapped around her little finger. If you know Danny, there isn’t anything that he wouldn’t do to help someone else out in need.
The financial burden of chemotherapy, medical treatments, medications, surgeries and travel expenses to Rochester, even after insurance, has added significant stress to Danny’s already challenging journey. Anything you can donate will be truly appreciated. Everything we can do to help and surround him with love is what is most important so he can focus on beating this thing.
