Hi everyone, on 12/23/25 I had to take my cat, Cat, to the vet after she was showing signs of chocolate poisoning. After completing bloodwork, they found concerning levels in her liver and kidneys, which then led to her needing to be transferred to an emergency animal hospital for overnight care. The following morning on Christmas Eve, I received an update that she was doing well in terms of hydration and eating, but they still had some concerns. This escalated in the afternoon to her showing extremely high levels of protein in her kidneys (average is 1.5 and she is at 7). This sign indicates that there is a more serious, underlying condition such as kidney disease. After completing an ultrasound, which we thought would give more answers, the vet said they couldn’t find anything and she now has to stay another night for increased monitoring. The uncertainty of what can come next is incredibly scary, and we are hoping there aren’t any more serious infections or underlying illnesses happening.

Some of my close friends and family know that we went through a traumatic experience 4 years ago when Cat was outside and hit by a truck. This led to an unexpected surgery and amputation that was so costly for me at the time that I thought I was going to have to say goodbye to her forever. Thankfully, with the help of donations and the FACE foundation, I was able to get her the treatment she needed.

The care she has received in the last 2 days and will continue to receive tomorrow is currently requiring me to pay around $10,000. I am humbly asking for your support. This is unfortunate timing with the holidays and spending Christmas Eve and Christmas Day visiting her in the hospital is not what I expected. More than anything, we want her to be able to come home for Christmas and be reunited with her brothers.
