Support Brianna’s Fight for Survival and Recovery
This is incredibly hard for us to ask, but we are facing a long and overwhelming road ahead, and we need help.
On Sunday, December 28, Brianna was involved in a devastating car accident. She was riding with her father on Main Street in Broken Arrow when he suffered a sudden medical emergency and lost consciousness. His foot remained on the accelerator, causing the vehicle to veer into oncoming traffic. The car struck a raised manhole cover, went airborne, and crashed into an oak tree at 46 mph. The impact was so severe that the car wrapped around the tree, and all airbags deployed.
Brianna was seated in the back passenger seat and was wearing her seatbelt—something we are incredibly thankful for—but despite that, she sustained catastrophic injuries. When EMS arrived, Brianna was unconscious and was transported emergently to St. Francis Hospital. Shortly after arrival, she went into cardiac arrest and coded. Trauma Level 1 was activated. After unsuccessful CPR, doctors performed an emergency thoracotomy and manually pumped her heart to restore blood flow to her organs. Brianna was without a pulse for 11 minutes before they were able to bring her back.
She suffered severe internal injuries, including a lacerated liver, damage to her spleen near her kidneys, and massive internal bleeding. Doctors were forced to perform emergency surgery, removing her sigmoid colon, colon, and a large portion of her intestines. Other organs were temporarily clamped to stop the bleeding. She also has a broken back, a broken femur, a broken tibia, and multiple torn ligaments. Complications from IV and IO lines caused medication to infiltrate her tissues, damaging arteries in her left arm.
So far, Brianna has undergone three emergency surgeries just to control internal hemorrhaging. She is currently in a medically induced coma to give her body the best chance to stabilize. In the coming days, doctors will determine which organs can be salvaged and what further surgeries are necessary.
Brianna remains in critical condition. Right now, we are not yet on the road to recovery—we are still on the road to survival. The doctors have told us that even in the best-case scenario, Brianna will spend many months in the hospital, followed by a long and difficult recovery with numerous additional surgeries.
The emotional, physical, and financial toll of this tragedy is immense. This GoFundMe is to help with medical expenses, extended hospital stays, future surgeries, rehabilitation, travel, and basic living needs as our family remains by Brianna’s side.
If you are able to donate, share, or keep Brianna in your prayers, it means more than we can express. We are holding on to hope, faith, and the belief that miracles still happen.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love and support.
