In the early hours of Sunday, July 20th, Tristan and Sergio happily welcomed their fourth baby into the world — a beautiful baby girl! Tate Harlan Carreno Shipman, born peacefully at home into the arms of her loving mom. What began as a peaceful and joyful moment quickly turned into every parent’s worst nightmare.

Shortly after birth, Tate experienced a severe medical emergency and was rushed via ambulance to Denver Health, where she was treated for Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn (PPHN)—a life-threatening condition that affects the heart and lungs.

After exhausting all treatment options at Denver Health, Tate was airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Aurora, where she was placed on ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation), a critical life support machine that temporarily takes over the function of her heart and lungs, giving her

tiny body the chance to heal.

Tate’s diagnosis remains unclear, and her condition is extremely fragile. The past few days have been filled with uncertainty as Tristan and Sergio stay by her side in the NICU. Cash, Salem and Sutton are currently being lovingly cared for by family, but they’re also missing their parents and baby sister deeply.

We’ll be using this page to share updates on Tate’s condition and any evolving needs the family may have from meals, to supplies, to help with Jax.
